The top 3 websites mistakes to avoid as a coach or consultant

May 16, 2024  By

Your website is often the first impression potential clients will have of you and your services. As a coach or consultant, it is essential to have a professional and effective website that accurately represents your brand and offerings. Most coaches and consultants appreciate that they need to be visually represented on their website and understand the importance of good photography in order to make that initial connection with the website visitor.

However, many coaches and consultants make common mistakes on their websites that can put potential clients off. Here are three big mistakes coaches and consultants make on their websites and how to avoid them.

1. Lack of a clear and compelling message

Your website should immediately convey who you are and what you do. Many coaches and consultants make the mistake of having a vague or generic tagline or message. Your message should be clear, succinct, and speak directly to your ideal clients. Use keywords and language that resonates with your target audience and showcases your unique value. You can test this by looking at your website as soon as it opens. Without scrolling is it clear what you do and who you do it for.

2. Not showcasing client testimonials

Potential clients want to see social proof of your expertise and the results you have achieved for others.

Including client testimonials on your website will help you top build trust and credibility. Many coaches and consultants miss out on the opportunity to showcase their success stories by not including client testimonials on their website or including them in a single page.

Testimonials can be a powerful way to convey that you can help them solve their issue as you have helped people with the same problems as them in the past. Place testimonials on each page and grouped by relevance to a particular service, course or type of coaching you provide.

3. Not having a clear call to action

Your website should have a clear call to action for visitors. This could be signing up for a free consultation, downloading a free resource, or booking a discovery call. Without a clear call to action, potential clients may not know what the next step is in working with you. Make it easy for them by clearly sign posting them to what they should do next.

To avoid these mistakes, regularly review and update your website with a clear message, client testimonials, and a clear call to action. Your website should be a strong representation of your brand and an effective tool for attracting and converting potential clients.

Don’t underestimate the importance of a well-designed and optimised website for the success of your coaching or consulting business.

Lorraine, at Navitas, has been my “go-to” person for all things website for years. Not only did she design and create my fabulous website (and make it an easy process), since then she has readily been on hand when I have had a problem or query (am not tech minded at all!) Having her there, patiently helping me, has been invaluable. Long may that continue:-)
