I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how many business coaches assume they need more traffic when their website isn’t bringing in enquiries.
More visibility feels like the obvious answer. More SEO, more posting, more networking, more content.
But I don’t actually think lack of traffic is the biggest issue for most coaches.
Often, people are already visiting the website. They’re just leaving without taking any action.
And usually that happens quietly. No one announces it. They simply land on the site, spend a short amount of time trying to make sense of it, and then disappear.
I think one of the reasons this happens so often is because many websites focus heavily on information, but not enough on clarity.
When someone arrives on a coaching website, they’re normally trying to answer a few very human questions in their head.
Do I feel understood here?
Is this relevant to the stage I’m at?
Can this person actually help me?
Would I feel comfortable working with them?
Most people won’t consciously articulate those questions, but they’re still there underneath the surface.
And if the website feels vague, overwhelming or too generic, people tend to lose confidence quite quickly.
Many business owners underestimate how emotionally driven these decisions are.
People don’t usually enquire because a website looked impressive. They enquire because something about it made them feel reassured. Something felt clear. Familiar. Thoughtful.
That’s especially true in coaching businesses where trust plays such a large role in the decision-making process.
A website doesn’t necessarily need more words, more animations or more complicated funnels.
Quite often, it simply needs more clarity.
Clearer messaging.
Clearer structure.
Clearer understanding of who the business is really trying to help.
Because when someone feels genuinely understood, taking the next step starts to feel much easier.
