The Brief
We were approached by Bicester Town Council to build their new website. They liked the idea of having a site that was outside the “normal” look and feel of a Town Council website and knew that Navitas Design had a history of building sites that that are slightly quirky. Bicester is a hot spot of new Eco building ideas and has a growing community that the Town Council felt should reflect in the town having a new vibrant and individual website.
Our Approach
Navitas Design take pride in ensuring that the finished website is in line with the expectations of the customer. We had a fact finding meeting with the customer to find out what were their likes and dislikes across the web. After looking at a huge number of websites we knew that we needed to show some of the more traditional views of the town but mixed with a spark of modern colours and icons. There is a wonderful plan of events in Bicester and a new calendar with booking form was the ideal way to get instant sign ups.
We provided a selection of designs for the council to ensure that we were on the right track. Once this was agreed we started the build as well as loading all the documents and information from the old site. We included several calendars, a area for each individual councilor as well as a document repository for all the minutes and finance documents.
The Result
We created an individual website that stands out, but is simple to navigate for the vast array of different people who use the site. Town Council meetings are easily managed in the Civic section of the event calendar and other event have their own calendar section. It is also easy to find contact details and a large amount of other council information.
From an administration point of view it is also simple for the council staff to add meetings to the calendar’s and update the site with minutes of meetings that have been held. They have an easy to administer payment tool that can be added to each event to enable them to sell tickets online.

Bicester Town Council needed to update its website at the end of its last contract and wanted to have a new and up to date website that reflected all the exciting changes happening within the Town. We are delighted with the design provided by Navitas and find our new website both easy to use and from the perspective of our customers, easy to navigate. Lorraine and Joff have been a pleasure to work with and they captured our brief perfectly. They have been both professional and personable and we are so pleased with the results in our modern and distinctive website.
